Super Touring Car Series Announced by HSCC

This Historic Sports Car Society announced today “an exciting new era for touring cars” – a racing series for cars conforming to Super Touring regulations; the regulations the BTCC ran to in the 1990s.

The series, due to launch on March 30th, will also be open to FIA Groups 2 and A cars.

For BTCC fans, the main draw will be the Super Touring regulation cars, which are still in existence, owned and maintained by enthusiasts and amateur racing drivers. A couple of dozen of the machines were present at last year’s Silverstone Classic – something the HSCC say was one of the big inspirations for the series.

The 2013 series will take place over four race weekends, with races at Thruxton, Brands Hatch, Silverstone and Oulton Park.

Each race weekend will incorporate a double-header set of races.

John Cleland has expressed keen interest in joining the series.
