Aiden Moffat keen to repeat 2017 heroics

Aiden Moffat is looking to repeat his race-winning performance of 2017 at Donington Park after qualifying his Mercedes Benz A-Class in fifth for race one.

Despite his session ending five minutes early due to a trip into the gravel trap at final corner, the Laser Tools Racing driver was able to hang on to his third row starting spot.

Returning to the scene of his maiden BTCC victory last year, the Scotsman is focused on moving forward and once again today and making another trip to the top step of the podium under the flightpath of East Midlands airport.

Speaking to BTCC Crazy, Moffat said: “I’m happy with how qualifying played out. I was aiming for the top five and that is what we’ve got, which is nice.

“We had a bit more pace in the car and I chose to take a gamble heading into the final chicane; unfortunately we had a component failure and ended up in the gravel. At the end of the day we are at the right end of the grid.

“This is the most focused I have ever been and I’m putting in a lot of work away from the event’s now – more than ever before. I feel that I’m reaping the benefits of that and I’m in a good place.

“Donington obviously holds some special memories for me and I’m looking to get some more silverware today. I’ll be pushing as hard as I can.”
