Cross Channel Challenge For Renault Clio Cup Drivers

Competitors in this seasons AirAsia Renault Clio Cup will be given the opportunity to race at the Silverstone round of the World Series by Renault with £14000 worth of prizes up for grabs.

Open to competitors from the UK and Europe, the event is also an official round of the Dutch Clio Cup season. As such only non-Dutch entries can win the prize fund, as well as giving the drivers in this years UK Championship the chance to mix it up with some of Europe’s best Clio drivers.

Last years World Series by Renault event at Silverstone attracted an amazing crowd of 125,000. This years Clio race will be supported by UK series sponsor AirAsia with a prize of a trip to Kuala Lumpur available for a lucky fan.

The event includes practice, qualifying and races on Saturday and Sunday and is open to anyone who’s car meets the Clio Cup UK 2011 technical regulations. There is no restriction on drivers with all Europeans teams and drivers able to enter the one off, showcase event.

Clio Cup UK championship promotor Lisa Crampton said; “This is a great opportunity for AirAsia Renault Clio Cup UK competitors.”

“As well as giving our Clios the opportunity to race at the iconic Silverstone circuit, there is a great prize fund available with £1500 for the overall winner and £900 for the second placed driver in each race.”

“The Clios will join other prestigious Renault Sport championships from around Europe including the Formula Renault 3.5 Championship, Megane Trophy and Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup. We’re certainly hoping to attract a large grid for this race.”

The event sits in the break the Clio Cup has between the meetings at Snetterton and Rockingham and will be the only opportunity the drivers have this season to race at Silverstone.
