Freddy Nordstrom will make his debut in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB this weekend at Snetterton for the GT Marques team.
The 22 year old, who tested for rival outfit Parr Motorsport back in March (pictured), has been competing in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship with Lotus Sport UK this season. He is taking advantage of the championship’s summer break to join the Pro-Am1 category of the Carrera Cup for rounds ten and eleven.
Nordstrom got behind the wheel of the GT Marques machine for the first time last Thursday (28th July) when he joined many of the series’ top names in a test session at Snetterton. This allowed Freddy to gauge his lap times against them, to gain an insightful comparison. He said: “It was a great day yesterday, everyone in the team was pleased with the outcome, which was the goal at the start of the day.
“We spent as much of the time as we could out on track, changing the set-up and various things on the car as we progressed, but it became better and better as the day developed. It was extremely useful to have this time in the car before the race next weekend.”
However Nordstrom was quick to clarify that for now his forthcoming appearance in the championship is just a one off and that his main priority is still his GT campaign. He said: “This is a good opportunity for me to be able to sample the car and also the series in a race situation. However I am still extremely committed to my British GT campaign, and look forward to being reunited with the Lotus Evora at Rockingham in September.”
