Tom Sharp Opens The Weekend With Commanding Victory

Tom Sharp continued his domination of the Ginetta GT Supercup with a commanding lights to flag victory in round four at Donington Park.

In qualifying at Brands Hatch two weeks ago, Sharp started on the front row with a blistering pole lap and he continued that form in qualifying to put his car on pole 0.239s ahead of his closest competitor Tom Ingram.

As the lights went out Sharp made a fantastic getaway off the line and held the lead going into Redgate , while a slow start Tom Ingram saw him fall back to third behind Carl Breeze.

Ingram started to pile the pressure on Breeze to regain second place, but could not find a way past . This allowed Andrew Richardson to join the fight for second place.

Andrew Richardson was forced to retire with mechanical issues moving Josh Wakefield  up to fourth place ahead of Hunter Abbott and Colin White in fifth and sixth place.

After a fairly processional race, it was Tom Sharp who would come across the line unchallenged to win by three seconds, with Breeze managing to keep Ingram behind to secure second place and take his first podium of the season. Ingram finished in third, Josh Wakefield in fourth place,  Abbott in fifth and White in sixth.

Jamie Orton finished seventh after a race-long battle with Fergus Walkinshaw who finished in eighth place.

In the G50 class, Max Coates came across the line to take his second class win of the season, with Mark Davies and Rob Gaffney taking second and third in class.
