Frank Wrathall capped off an excellent season behind the wheel of the Dynojet NGTC-spec Toyota Avensis with his first win of his career during the final round of the 2012 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.
Wrathall became the ninth different driver to win a race during the 2012 season as he took the flag during the final race in what was a rain-soaked Brands Hatch circuit.
“Getting my first win is such a relief, and it’s great for the Dynojet team, to whom I owe everything,” said Wrathall reflecting on the race. “They deserve all the praise: they have done an incredible job and all day they have been improving the Toyota to the point where it was the best car out there. Everyone has worked so hard and we’ve had far too many disappointments this year, so this is a great end to the season.”
Wrathall didn’t get off to a great start to the season but he proved in the final race just how much the team have improved with the development of the car.
“I got too much wheelspin off the start and moved sideways instead of forward. That allowed Jason Plato to pass me on the inside, so I just stuck to the outside line through Paddock and the car felt great and I went straight back past him. It was at that point that I thought ‘we could be all right here.’
The 26-year old finished the season inside the top-ten and eighth in the independents category.
