Tom Ingram was left pleased after he topped the opening practice session of the 2018 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch.
Continuing his love affair with the Kent venue, the Speedworks Motorsport driver he struck first as hustled his Toyota Avensis to a best time of 48.384, 0.056 ahead of Jack Goff.
“It’s a good start,” Ingram said. “We did our own thing and just pounded round getting the laps in. It wasn’t really the intention to blast around and set the timesheets alight, so to finish the session first is pleasing.
“Spenny [Ingram’s engineer] got his first session of the season in the books and it was nice to reward everybody’s hard work by setting the fastest time.
“We ran new tyres and although traffic was difficult, as it always is, everyone seemed to have an eye on their mirrors.
“The plan now is to make the car better, we’ve got a plan of how to improve things and we will see what we can do in second practice and later in qualifying.”
