Ashley Sutton says his 2017 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship title triumph is now starting to sink in, one week on from the drama that unfolded at Brands Hatch.
Beating Colin Turkington to become the youngest driver since John Fitzpatrick in 1966 to lift the coveted crown, the Team BMR driver has been a man in demand with a host of media requirements alongside his day-to-day job.
Speaking to BTCC Crazy, Sutton said: “What I have achieved is now starting to sink in, it has been a really busy week though so perhaps it hasn’t hit me fully yet.
“Obviously we made sure we celebrated on Sunday night which left me feeling a little worse for where the next day. Since then I’ve been doing a lot of interviews and done some coaching in the Michelin Clio Cup Series this weekend.
“Tonight (8th October) I’ve got nothing to do but chill out so it will nice to be able to sit there and know that I am BTCC champion.
“The response from the fans, teams and drivers has been mind-blowing. Every time I go onto social media there are just a host of messages of congratulations. It is really nice to see so many people were behind me.
“I’m looking forward to getting to the TOCA Awards as I’ll able to look down on the names that are engraved on the trophy and see mine.”
