After 24 races of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship team-mates Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal are tied at the top of the overall drivers standings with 204 points.
Heading into Rockingham it was the Scot that lead by a mere one point but following 22 and 23 point hauls from Shedden and Neal respectively the two will battle the final six races of the season from a level playing field.
Jason Plato also clawed himself back into the championship race as he closed the gap by 11 points to the leaders. A win in the first race of the day helped his cause as he went on to finish all three races inside the points.
Mat Jackson had another race weekend to forget as he made it two consecutive six consecutive non-points scoring finishes – the only point he scored came during race two at Knockhill in which he scored one bonus point for the fastest lap of the race. This dents his Independent Championship title challenge as he was overhauled by James Nash who now leads by twenty-four points on 220. Nash scored a brilliant thirty points in the Independent Championship to give him the lead with six races to go.
Elsewhere Honda Racing extend their leads in both the Team and Manufacturer Championship but it was Triple Eight Racing who made the move to the top of the Independent Team Championship following James Nash’s great weekend. They now lead Airwaves Racing by twenty points.
