Chris Swanwick is accustomed to racing in the Renault Clio Cup but earlier this week the 17-year old swapped the Clio for the Next Generation Touring Car Specification Audi A4 entered by Rob Austin Racing in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship as he drove the car around the Pembrey Circuit in Wales.
Swanwick will be attending all of the race meetings with testing involved with a view to a race start later in the year and a possible deal for the 2012 season. Speaking following the test at Pembrey, Rob Austin said, “We were delighted with Chris’s performance at Pembrey, he showed remarkable maturity and speed in the car and he got faster and faster all day. He will be a force to be reckoned with when he races in the BTCC”.
Swanwick went on to say, “The Pembrey test was fantastic; I loved every second of being in that car and can’t wait for my next outing. The plan is to use the balance of this year to get familiar with the team and car, in order to be a step ahead for a full campaign in 2012”.
