Rob Collard has stated that his season starts this weekend at Donington Park after he endured a frustrating time at the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship curtain-raiser at the start of the month.
Scoring just a solitary point at Brands Hatch, the Team BMW driver heads into rounds four, five and six keen to bounce back and ignite his title challenge with a solid haul of points at the Leicestershire venue.
I’ve enjoyed success at Donington in the past, Collard is hoping that being free of success ballast will spur him and aid his cause in delivering some a trio of front-running results.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Collard said: “I’m treating Donington as the start of my season. I’ve had some great results there in the past, including my first BTCC podium, a second-place finish last year and two wins.
“We’ve certainly been able to show the BMW’s speed there over the past couple of seasons to a greater level than before, which shows the top job the team’s doing.
“I’m not carrying any success ballast into the weekend so that will help as I aim to make a big jump up the championship table.”
