Plato Fastest in FP2; Jacksons Misery

Jason Plato once again set the fastest time of the session in the second free practice session of the day in his NGTC-specification MG KX Momentum Racing MG6 in a session which was short-lived due to two red flag periods.
It took a matter of minutes for the first red flag of the session as Mat Jackson, in his Redstone Racing Ford Focus, lost control of the car at Cascades resulting in the car crashing into the barrier causing extensive front-end damage and a halt into the proceedings.
The session got back underway and it was Shedden who set the early pace and was the first to break under the 1min 30sec barrier but it was Jason Plato who ended at the top of the times with a 1:27.426 ahead of Matt Neal by a margin of just 0.014 seconds.
Matt Neal headed a trio of NGTC-specification Honda Civic’s with Andy Jordan and Gordon Shedden in 3rd and 4th respectively.
Rob Collard was the only other driver to finish the session within a second of the pace of Plato.
The session was brought to an abrupt end following another incident this time involving the other Jackson on the grid. Ollie Jackson had an almost identical incident to his namesake Mat which resulted in the stewards bringing the session to an end.
Drivers will be disappointed that the session was brought to an end as the time they have had on a drying track has been limited heading into qualifying after a wet first session.
