Joe Girling and M247 Racing have pulled out of this weekend’s Oulton Park round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship. In a statement on the team’s website, Joe put the team’s absence down to unspecified medical reasons.
“Those of you that read my 3 race round up will know about how I felt at the start of the season when after all the hype and build up to race 1, I had a driveshaft fail and was feeling really quite drained,” the statement explained.
“Only one thing is worse than this, and that’s getting all hyped up for a race and then not been able to compete for medical reasons… Which is exactly why I have to let everyone know that I won’t be at Oulton Park this weekend.
“This isn’t something I can avoid, and its so last minute because I was hoping to be able to compete. But unfortunately, that’s not possible. We will; without doubt, be back at Croft – which, incidentally is one of my favourite circuits!
Girling, who competes in the Jack Sears Trophy for S2000 cars, currently sits fourth in class with one victory to his name, vows to be back at Croft in two week’s time, back to full health and with new sponsorship from DNA Tuning.
“So another rollercoaster time for us at M247 Racing, but we take the rough with the smooth, and Oulton Park is already behind us – On to Croft we go,” the statement concluded.
