Nicolas Hamilton eyeing further progress on second BTCC outing

AMD Tuning’s Nicolas Hamilton is eager to impress on his second BTCC outing as the series heads to Snetterton this weekend for rounds 16, 17 and 18.

Becoming the first disabled driver to compete in the BTCC at Croft where he impressed with three race finishes, the 23-year-old is now looking to continue his progression behind the wheel of his Audi S3 at the sixth meeting of the season.

Making further strides forward at last month’s Dunlop tyre test which in-turn has built up even more confidence, Hamilton is aiming to move higher up the field at the Norfolk circuit.

Commenting ahead of the weekend, Hamilton said: “I feel a lot more confident going into this weekend. The recent test we had at Snetterton went well, and I’m really happy with where we ended up at the end of it. I found a lot of time during the day and I have a better understanding of what to expect from the car – and also of what is needed from me.

“The aim now is to try and make sure that when the race weekend gets underway, we are able to start where we left off at the end of the test. I want to be right on it from the moment FP1 begins and hopefully we can use practice to refine things and then make a push in qualifying.

“The testing pace showed that I can be right in the pack, which will throw up a new challenge for me. At Croft, it was all about getting three finishes and gaining as much experience as I could, and while that applies again at Snetterton, this weekend is also about taking the next step and learning all about racing door to door in the series.”
