James Nash will return to the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship this year, completing BTC Norlin Racing’s driver 2018 driver line-up.
Set to partner Chris Smiley, who continues with the team for a second season, the 32-year-old will get behind the wheel of a Honda Civic Type R, which was recently acquired from Team Dynamics.
A former race winner and BTCC Independent Drivers’ champion, Nash made his debut in 2009 for RML Chevrolet before moving on to Triple Eight Racing in the Vauxhall Vectra.
Last competed in the series back in 2011, the Milton Keynes racer has since raced in what was the WTCC, winning the Independents title there too, and TCR International.
“I’m delighted to be joining BTC Norlin Racing, we’ve been looking at opportunities over the winter and Norlin made an offer we couldn’t refuse,” Nash said on ending what will be a seven-year absence from the championship.
“The Honda Civic has proven to be one of the cars to beat so I’m confident of being competitive from the get go”.
Bert Taylor, BTC Norlin Racing Team Principal, added: “We are really excited for our prospects in the 2018 season and now have two young drivers and cars that are capable of challenging for podium places at each round.
“James has the character and determination to win and we are thrilled to welcome him to the team.”
In addition to Nash, the team have also confirmed The Range, one of the UK’s fastest growing retailers, as the first of its new sponsors for the year ahead.
