Jake Hill enjoyed his strongest qualifying performance to-date at Silverstone today after bagging the fifth fastest time in a frenetic session.
At a circuit which has been well-suited to the Volkswagen CC in the past, the Team HARD driver backed up his pace in practice to put himself firmly into contention for tomorrow’s three races on the third row.
“I’m so happy,” Hill told ITV as he reflected on the session. “It was hooked up and is a result. I had done the sectors but I wasn’t able to string it together to bump myself up a couple of more places – fifth is great and my best-ever qualifying in BTCC.
“We had a differential problem at Knockhill and Rockingham so the boys have rebuilt the box and the car is amazing to drive now. I was expecting to be quick as we are strong in a straight line and we have one of the lowest roof lines.
“Staying in the top five is vital but I have to get a podium. It is important for me and for my sponsors so that is the aim and either in races one or two we can get that.”
