Following on from his best BTCC meeting to date, Jack Goff is optimistic of carrying on his front-running form at Oulton Park this weekend.
The Eurotech Racing driver took a brace of third place finishes and a fourth at Thruxton last time out, drawing him closer to the summit of the championship.
Sitting sixth in the standings, the 26-year-old descends on Cheshire for the fourth event of the year confident that the Honda Civic Type R can be a formidable force around the 2.26 mile Island layout.
“Realistically, the Honda should be strong,” Goff told BTCC Crazy. “Both Matt [Neal] and Gordon [Shedden] have shown in the past that the car works well around there so that fills me with confidence.
“We all know that Oulton is traditionally better suited to the rear-wheel-drive cars but I don’t foresee them having it all their own way. We are enjoying a good run of results at the moment so it would be nice to continue that.
“Being where we are in the championship points means we don’t have to carry too much ballast, which could work in our favour given how stop-start the lap is at points.
“Overtaking has traditionally been tough but not impossible. The need for a good qualifying position is probably a bit more vital than other circuits so we will see what we can do. I’m optimistic that we can bag some good results and keep in touch with the leaders.”
