Jack Goff is eyeing another trio of points finishes at Thruxton as he bids to build on what has been a strong start to the 2016 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship for him.
Making the switch to West Surrey Racing to pilot a BMW 1-Series under the IHG Rewards Club banner, the 25-year-old has been one of the form men over the opening six races – notching a solitary podium to enter rounds 7, 8 and 9 sitting third in the points.
Yet to notch a podium finish in the BTCC around the Andover circuit, the High Wycombe-based racer is optimistic of what can be achieved around the flowing 2.3 mile layout.
“It has been a really good start to the year,” said Goff to BTCC Crazy at Donington Park. “If I’m honest I didn’t really envisage being the top BMW driver at this point of the season but I’m over the moon that this is the case. We’ve worked really hard during the off-season to improve the car and it seems as though we’ve made a step in the right direction.
“Going to Thruxton is always exciting given that it is the fastest circuit we visit during the season. It is all about hanging it all out around there as well as being wary that the tyres have to be looked after. I did half a day in the wet during pre-season so it will be a little bit of a step into the unknown in terms of getting the car in the sweet spot but I think we will be okay.
“The main objective will be to once again be in the mix towards the front and bank three solid points finishes. Obviously I want to get that first win with the team and I’m confident we can be on the fringe of it – maintaining third in the standings or better would be very good as we head to the more BMW friendly tracks.”
