Jack Goff was left over the moon after taking a lights-to-flag victory in the opening Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship race of the day at Brands Hatch.

Converting his pole position into a lead he ultimately never lost, the WIX Racing with Eurotech driver battled wet conditions and the charging to Colin Turkington to take the spoils, with Andrew Jordan rounding out the podium.

“That was a great way to start the season,” Goff told BTCC Crazy. “Had I had nobody behind me I would have struggled because the conditions were tough out there. Having a double champion chasing me made it even more difficult but if I could have someone it would of been Colin as he drives clean.

“I got a good start and managed to get my head down in the early laps. It was tough out there but I defended into the key areas of where we were strong and hit my marks.

“This is a great reward to the whole team, our sponsors and everybody that works so hard behind-the-scenes. It is a long championship and that is just the first out of 30 races so we need to keep chipping away.”

Set to start from pole position for race two, scheduled to start at 14:25, the 27-year-old will be ladened with the maximum 75kgs of success ballast.

He said: “The car is going to feel different as we are throwing a load of weight into it but I’m confident that our preparations over the off-season will leave us in a good place.

“I just need to get off the line again and see where we go from there.”
