Jack Goff is confident that Eurotech Racing can be a force to be reckoned with in 2017 after working through an extensive pre-season testing programme in recent months.
Switching from West Surrey Racing to partner Jeff Smith, the 26-year-old has benefitted from a string of tests with the Honda Civic Type R since inking the deal – including a week in Spain.
Setting the fifth fastest time at Donington Park last week in the official pre-season test, Goff was full of confidence and revelling in the prospects of what lies ahead for both himself and the team.
Speaking to BTCC Crazy, Goff said: “Testing has been going really well and at Donington last week we worked through another list of areas we wanted to cover.
“We seem to be on the pace and I think we could have been even higher had I not lost a lap where I was two tenths of a second up on my fastest time. There are still some areas that we need to improve upon but the signs seem to be positive so far.
“The new tyre is something that we are still learning about but we have one more test before the first round so that will give us another opportunity.
Looking ahead to the annual curtain-raiser at Brands Hatch, an event Goff has gone well at in recent years, the High Wycombe-based racer has a clear objective.
“We’ve got to be somewhere on the front three rows qualifying,” he stated. “For the last two years I have left round one in a really strong position in the championship and I want to do the same this year. As we know the grid is so competitive this year so it won’t be easy.
“Three solid points finishes towards the sharp end of the grid, podiums and race wins will be a bonus. As we have seen consistency is what is going to win this championship and I believe we can put ourselves into the topic of that conversation.”
