Jack Goff says he is gunning for silverware at Rockingham tomorrow after another strong showing in qualifying.
Goff emerged from 30-minute session as the fastest front-wheel-drive car after hustling his Honda Civic Type R to second on the timesheets, 0.048 off of pole sitter James Cole.
Despite having had provisional pole position for a majority the session, the 23-year-old was relatively pleased by his front row result and is already focused on what he can achieve on race day.
Speaking to BTCC Crazy following qualifying, Goff said: “I thought we had pole position at one stage, it was looking good for a little while.
“The car was a bit of a handful and there are a few thing that we can work on overnight to ensure we have as good a race car as possible.
“To be the top front-wheel-drive car is a big positive though and we are in a position where we can really get our head down and score some big results; I’m obviously wanting that win.
“I’m going to be giving it my all but need to look after the tyres early on as degradation could be a factor. If I can grab some silverware for the team that would be a great result – tomorrow is another day and we will see what we can do!”
Despite securing a front row spot, Goff admits he is wary of the pace that the rear-wheel-drive cars look likely to have on race day.
He explained: “I’ve driven a rear-wheel-drive car around here before so I know how strong they are. In the past qualifying hasn’t been the strongest for those kind of cars round here so given how qualifying has panned out it is looking like they are going to be hard to beat.
“I’ll be giving it my everything as always though.”
