Team HARD will be running two cars for the next round of the 2012 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship with the announcement that Robb Holland will join the team as they prepare for round six at Snetterton.
Holland will become the first American driver to compete in the British Touring Car Championship for nearly 40 years. It is believed that the deal will see the 41-year old compete at both Snetterton and Knockhill.
“The BTCC is very popular in the States, particularly when it’s shown on the Speed channel, plus I’ve followed it for some time,” said Holland speaking to btcc.net. “I like Tony and the team’s attitude and the opportunity was too good to miss.”
Holland competed in the SCCA Pirelli World Challenge in the K-PAX Volvo C30 in 2011 before he switched to the Honda Civic for the 2012 campaign.
“The Snetterton test will help me get used to the parameters of the car and then the race meetings there and at Knockhill will give me a feeling for what the racing is about. This will be a toe-in-the-water exercise, but I’ve talked to Tony and a few other teams and am planning on being in the championship permanently in 2013.”
