Halfords Yuasa Racing’s brand new Honda Civic Type R has turned a wheel for the first time today as pre-season testing continues for a majority of teams at Parcmotor Catelloli, just outside Barcelona, Spain.

Based on the FK8 model, the new car broke cover ahead of what is set to be a busy week as both Matt Neal and Dan Cammish get to grips with it ahead of the 2018 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season.

In what has been described as a herculean effort to prepare the new car in time for testing, both drivers are relishing the opportunity to begin working on unlocking the ultimate performance as they chase titles this year.

Triple champion Neal said: “This next generation Honda Civic Type R is fantastic and the guys have pulled out all the stops to get us to this point. I can’t wait to jump in and get out on track this week. If the car goes as fast as it looks then we’ll be in great shape this season!”

“It’s really exciting to see the new car in the flesh, in full racing trim and it’s really something special,” added Cammish. “Sitting in the cockpit for the first time will be a really proud moment for me.”

The team are set to conduct a full week of testing in Spain before returning to the UK, visiting Brands Hatch and Donington Park.

The official livery of both cars will be unveiled at the BTCC Season Launch on Tuesday 27th March at Donington Park.
