Jason Plato has once again taken taken the fastest time in Free Practice at Rockingham Motor Speedway.

Plato, driving the KX Momentum MG 6GT, set a time of 1:22.806 which was almost half a second faster than anybody else, and well clear of last year’s pole time and lap record. This follows Plato setting the fastest time in the mornings first practice session.

Andy Jordan was the next quickest car, heading a train of three Hondas. Championship rivals and team-mates Shedden and Neal were third and fourth respectively.

It was a frustrating session for Redstone Racing’s Mat Jackson, who had mechanical problems that prevented him from taking to the track until more than half an hour into the session. Despite that, he was able to set a time good enough for fifth fastest.

Jason Plato’s team-mate Andy Neate managed sixth, with Rob Austin just behind in seventh. Jeff Smith elevated his Honda Civic into eight position, with Collard the fastest BMW in 9th. Adam Morgan’s Toyota Avensis rounded out the top ten.

Howard Fuller, making his début for Team HARD in the Honda Civic was only able to complete seven laps before he ended his session in the gravel at Gracelands.

Full timing can be found here.

The action continues at 1510 with qualifying.
