Rob Austin is looking to continue his run of scintillating form at Silverstone this weekend as the BTCC roars towards its 2013 conclusion.
The WIX Racing driver took a memorable as well as hugely popular first victory in the championship last time out at Rockingham Motor Speedway. It has been a whirlwind last few weeks for Austin who has enjoyed success on the big screen as well as on the track – with the cinematic release of Rush showing the BTCC driver with a cameo role.
Off the back of some stellar meetings – which in truth have overshadowed his rollercoaster season, Austin is heading to the home of British motorsport this coming weekend with high hopes. Even though his recent success is set to work against him.
Austin told BTCC Crazy at Rockingham: “We had our boost turned down after Knockhill and with how we performed here at Rockingham, we are even more likely to have it turned down again.
“Even though that won’t help our cause due to Silverstone being all about straight line speed and only a little bit of cornering, I think we will still do quite well.
“I said that after what we did at Knockhill it was important to show consistency – I didn’t think I would win a race though. We have been on the podium four times in the last six races so there would be no reason why we can’t continue our form at Silverstone.
The Audi driver currently sits 9th in the drivers standings on 150 points. You will be able to hear more from Austin later in the week as he gears up for this weekends trip to the home of British motorsport.
Rounds 25, 26 and 27 mark the penultimate meeting of the 2013 campaign, the track action is throughout the 28/29th September.
