Pirtek Racing’s Andrew Jordan was happy to bounce back in race two at Brands Hatch after boost issues scuppered his progress in race one.
Running the soft tyre in the second encounter of the day, Jordan launched his Motorbase Performance from 11th into the top ten within Paddock Hill Bend and soon started to pick his way through the field.
Capitalising on the contact which happened early on between Tom Ingram and Rob Collard, the Red Bull athlete was soon on the back of Aron Smith but was unable to reach the rostrum.
Jordan told BTCC Crazy: “I’m really pleased with that and we are now back in the mix. That is what I enjoy, some close racing where I can get stuck in and the car was able to do that. I really pushed hard in the opening stages and we were really on a roll.
“Mat [Jackson] was behind me and he was really quick too so I was trying to work with him to open up the gaps and drag him along with me. Once I got on the back of Aron I just didn’t have the tyre life to really launch a challenge because I did really want a podium.”
Lining up towards the sharp end of the grid for the final race of the day, Jordan is optimistic of what can be achieved.
He explained: “We should be in a good position. The soft tyre does seem to be the better tyre but temperatures may drop a little before race three so we will see how it all plays out.”
