Andrew Jordan and The Racing School launch Touring Car Experience at Donington Park

Donington Race SchoolReigning British Touring Car champion Andrew Jordan was yesterday (22nd September) on hand at Donington Park to launch The Racing School Touring Car Experience.

Joined by fellow Honda driver and BTCC champion Matt Neal, the Pirtek Racing pilot unveiled the circuits latest driving experience, which will allow members of the public the opportunity to get a unique Touring Car thrill and pilot an NGTC machine as well as be given hot laps by a current BTCC star.

Priced at £849 and available to purchase now for 2015 dates, the Touring Car Experience will involve driving cars representative of the BTCC’s supporting cast – a single-seater, Porsche Carrera, Ginetta GT4 and Renault Clio – before progressing to a 300bhp variant of a 2015 BTCC race car.

Jordan gave BTCC Crazy further insight the new attraction at the Leicestershire track: “It’s part of the Racing School who work on delivering driving experiences around the country at a host of different circuits.

“People will be allowed to purchase a drive behind the wheel of a Supercar and then have a ride in a full NGTC specification Touring Car – allowing them to get the full BTCC experience.

“It is all in the early stages at the moment though but it will be based at Donington Park and I’ll be heavily involved with it.”

With Jordan and Neal both present at the circuit yesterday to pilot passengers around in their current BTCC machines, BTCC Crazy posed the question of whether a single car will be built for the experience or whether BTCC drivers will bring their own championship machines.

He explained: “To be honest I’m not too sure at the moment, for us as a team it wouldn’t really work taking the Civic back and forth. We will have to wait and see though.”

Managing Director Peter Barnes commented: “Our mission at THE RACING SCHOOL is to transform dreams into reality. Touring cars resonate with the public because they see superstar drivers racing wheel-to-wheel in cars derived from everyday production models.

“The Touring Car Experience will bring fans closer to their heroes than ever before.”
