Adam Morgan left Donington Park feeling satisfied with the performance of his Mercedes Benz A-Class after impressing during the official pre-season test.
The Ciceley Motorsport with Mac Tools driver finished the four-hour long session setting the fourth fastest time and completed a total of 42 laps around the Leicestershire track.
Feeling encouraged with the overall pace, the four-time race winner is in a buoyant mood heading into rounds one, two and three of the 2017 campaign – which gets underway in two weeks time.
“To finish inside the top five was encouraging,” said Morgan. “Some of the issues that we have encountered in previous tests were rectified and we were able to work through a good chunk of the programme we had planned. There is more time in the car but everyone is going to say that as nobody knows who was running however much weight and what tyres they had on.
“There are the odd things that I’m not quite happy with yet but considering where the car was at the end of last year to now, it is clear we have made a step forward.
“I’m happy with where we are though and we seem to be in a good position. We won’t test again before the first round but I am confident we can roll out in a strong place at Brands Hatch.”
