Motorbase To Sit Out Carrera Cup GB In 2012
Motorbase Performance will not compete in this year’s Porsche Carrera Cup GB it has been announced today.
The team joined the championship back in 2004, the year that they were formed, and have competed in it for seven of the past eight years. The squad has a good record in the series having chalked up 26 race victories and in 2010 they won the very prestigious teams’ championship.
Team Principal David Bartrum said: “I love the Carrera Cup, but we were looking for a new challenge for 2012. This isn’t an ending, it’s a sabbatical. Give us a year or two and we’ll be back. Carrera Cup has been a big part of our team and Porsche will always be part of our future. We’ve been really busy behind the scenes for the past few months and have a number of exciting plans in the pipeline for this year and that’s where our focus will be. We’re not quite in the position to make any announcements at this moment in time, but we’re close – all will be revealed very soon.”
The Carrera Cup GB gets underway on the weekend of the 31st March/1st April at Brands Hatch.
