Richardson Switches To Parr Motorsport
George Richardson has signed to race for Parr Motorsport in the 2012 Porsche Carrera Cup GB.
The 20 year old from Manchester joins from Motorbase, the squad with which he has contested the series with since he made his debut in 2009. His first full campaign came a year later in 2010, where he finished third in the Pro-Am2 category, claiming four class victories. For 2011, he stepped up to Pro-Am1 where he finished a respectable fifth in the category.
Now for 2012 Richardson has switched teams to once again compete in Pro-Am1, joining professional drivers Ben Barker and Chris Dymond in committing to the Sussex based squad. He will be hoping he can challenge for the title after seeing a significant upturn in performance towards the end of the season which yielded him five Pro-Am1 podium finishes in the final eight races of the season.
He said: “I’m excited about the prospect of working with Parr Motorsport. I’ve had a good relationship with Paul Robe since I entered the championship and with Parr’s standard of preparation and its history in the Carrera Cup the team has always been at the top. I hope to learn as much as I can to help achieve my goal of becoming a professional sports car driver.”
Team Principal Paul Robe is delighted with his new signing. He said: “I really am very pleased to have George joining our team for 2012. We’ve got a very young team of drivers and it is great to work with young guys who have a lot of drive and determination. The target for George is to win races in Pro-Am1.”
The season starts at Brands Hatch on the weekend of the 31st March/1st April.
