It was announced that James Thompson will test the Speedoworks NGTC Toyota Avensis when the team take the car to Donington Park for a scheduled test session.

Christian Dick, Team Principal of Speedworks said to btcc.net, “James is a free agent and of course a fantastic driver to have in the car in terms of set-up work and overall development. He was also the test and development driver behind the original NGTC prototype which can only be of added value.

“We’ve got tons we want to get through so hopefully we’ll get a break in the weather and, at the end of the day, Tony [Hughes] will be able to see how the car has come on.”

It was a season of debuts for the Speedworks team, driver in Tony Hughes and the NGTC Toyota Avensis in what ended in a disappointing season for all but the team will be looking to build and improve ready for the 2012 season.

James Thompson, who has already taken the BTCC title on two occasions returned to the BTCC for the final race of the season to drive for Motorbase but has yet to sign any contracts or deals for the 2012 season.
