The four finalists for the 2012 Porsche Scholarship will be evaluated at the Porsche experience centre at Silverstone today (Monday 31st
October).

Tom Ingram, Daniel Lloyd, Jody Fannin and Ollie Milroy have been confirmed as the final four candidates for the £80,000 prize which is to
be used by the winner as a significant element of their budget for the 2012 Carrera Cup GB season.

Ingram, 18, from Buckinghamshire has had two highly successful years already in championships supporting the BTCC. In 2010 he took the Ginetta Juniors title and followed that up this year by winning the G50 class of the Ginetta Supercup.

Fannin, also 18, from Surrey, was one of Ingram’s main rivals for the G50 title this season but had to settle for third in the final standings.

Lloyd, 19, from Huddersfield, finished third in the DTM supporting VW Scirocco R-Cup in 2011 and also had a successful cameo in the BTCC in 2010 for Triple Eight at Croft, with a best finish of seventh.

Millroy, 21, also from Surrey, competed in the first four rounds of this year’s Formula Renault UK Championship which like the Ginetta championships and the Carrera Cup itself, is a major support series on the TOCA package.

The four finalists will undergo a rigorous evaluation process, which includes driving the latest Porshce 911 GT3 Cup car round the Silverstone National Circuit.

One of last year’s successful candidates Ben Hetherington enjoyed a solid debut campaign in the series in 2011 finishing eighth in the
overall championship standings, with one of the highlights coming in the final race of the season at Silverstone where he claimed his first Carrera Cup GB podium by finishing third. He says that winning the Scholarship was a massive boost in his bid to make a career as a professional sports and GT racer.

“It’s a superb scheme that is bringing young talent through into a very professional and competitive championship. I’ve learnt so much this year and the podium at Silverstone shows this.”

The winner of the 2012 scholarship will be announced in early November.
