Pirtek Switch To NGTC Honda For 2012
It was announced today that Pirtek Racing will field two NGTC-spec Honda Civic’s for the 2012 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.
The team, who also confirmed that Andrew Jordan and Jeff Smith will continue to race for the team have ordered the two cars from Team Dynamics ahead of the new season. Speaking about the deal, Team Principal Mike Jordan said, “This is the start of a new two-year partnership with Pirtek and that has given us the confidence and stability to make a major investment.”
“We are delighted and excited to announce that we will run two new Civics to the Next Generation Touring Car regulations,” he continued. “We will have exactly the same car as Matt Neal. We looked seriously at several options for doing our own car, but we wanted the best car for the start of the new season. That’s as good as it gets.”
Jordan, who lies 6th in the 2011 championship with one round remaining said, “I’m very excited,” he said. “We’ve straight away put ourselves in the best car on the grid for next year. I’m looking forward to working with Team Dynamics; I think we’ll work very well together and they will be very open with us. I think there will be quite a few envious people when they see that we are in the new Honda. I think it will be the best car on the grid. I’d like to think we’ll be consistently near the front and consistency is something I want to concentrate on.”
Pirtek Racing join the likes of Honda Racing and Triple Eight Racing who have all confirmed NGTC entry’s for the 2012 season.
