Frank Wrathall will start tomorrow’s first race of the day from 14th on the grid despite completing just one flying lap in the penultimate qualifying session of the 2011 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship which ended prematurely for the Lancastrian.

Following the first red flag of the session, Wrathall took to the track with a clear track ahead of him and used it to good effect and posted his first flying lap of the session which was good enough for a provisional 8th place on the grid after just 14 minutes of the session. However, after going faster in both sectors one and two, the 24-year old failed to complete the lap after ending his session backwards and into the barrier on the exit of Clearways.

Speaking after his accident, Wrathall said, “I just lost it going into Clearways and unfortunately I ended up in the gravel. I was on my quickest lap of the session and I just pushed beyond what I had underneath me.”

“We would have been looking to go a lot quicker if I hadn’t had made the mistake but considering I did just one flying lap it could have been a lot worse.” Wrathall went on to say, “We’ll see what we can do tomorrow.”
