Myles Collins Blog #7 – Ready for Brands GP

Myles Collins

After a great confidence booster at Rockingham myself and the team are ready for Brands Hatch GP.

Rockingham was a great weekend for me. With a 5th place finish starting from eighth in the first race and then a sixth place finish starting from ninth in the second.

I had a brave start in the second race to keep it planted around the outside at the first corner. It was definitely a 70/30 move!!! I pulled it off and overtook five cars around the outside in one corner. I was up to fourth by turn two. I was glued to George Gamble’s bumper before I made the move into turn one to move up to third position. I then kept the third spot for the whole race until the last lap, I started to lose a bit of ground as my tyres had gone and Sennan Fielding had just set the fastest lap of the race!!!

Sennan got a mega run onto the straight and nearly overtook me in a straight line! He lunged into the first corner on the last lap and leaned on me very sneakily. By doing so, he didn’t even keep third spot because about three other drivers got past the pair of us!!!

Sennan then made a lunge for George, tyre smoke, he had third place back. It was then a tuck in and finish where you finish. I ended up sixth instead of what would have been an almost definite podium finish.

Going into Brands I have to get the best qualifying I have ever had and take the races as they come.

I have never looked forward to a race weekend as much as this one before, as from Wednesday we were almost announcing we could not race as budget is really hard approaching the end of the season. As my Dad has always said he would never give up and always find a way, he did and thankfully I am fortunate to be racing this weekend.

If the pace isn’t there I will try hard to find it, but all in all I will enjoy the weekend.

Thanks for reading and enjoy what is going to be very sunny weekend!
