Ollie Jackson To Make BTCC Debut For Triple Eight
It was confirmed earlier today that Ollie Jackson, the reigning Porsche Carrera Cup Pro-Am1 Champion, will make his Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship debut in the second Triple Eight Vauxhall Vectra as the teams head to the Brands Hatch circuit this weekend.
Speaking about the move, Jackson said, “I’m thrilled to have signed for Triple Eight and can’t wait to make my touring car debut. So far I’ve only had an afternoon in the car and Brands will be the first time I will have raced a front wheel drive car so clearly they’ll be lots to learn once Saturday morning practice starts.”
“That said, I’m really looking forward to the experience, I know the track and I’m confident that I can put up a good showing.”
Jackson will be the fourth driver to race for the Triple Eight Racing Team after Tony Gilham and Aron Smith drove for the team earlier in the season. The deal will see the former British GT Championship driver complete the season including the final race of the championship at Silverstone.
“We’re pleased to have signed Ollie for Brands and Silverstone. I’m sure he’ll soon find his feet,” said Triple Eight Chairman, Ian Harrison. “It’ll be good too to have a second car out there again to hopefully to secure some more points for us in both Championships.”
Triple Eight Racing currently lie top of the Independent Teams Championship with 233 points ahead of Airwaves Racing by a margin of 20 points with two rounds remaining.
