Nash: “The Championship Comes Alive At Rockingham”
The Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship rolls into Northants this weekend for round eight of the season and according to James Nash, this is where “the championship comes alive”.
Nash, who lies just five points behind Mat Jackson in the Independents Driver Championship, will be looking for a good points haul this weekend to make up for the final race last time out at Knockhill in which he failed to score. Despite being 42 points behind overall championship leader, Matt Neal, Nash is yet to rule himself out of the championship title fight.
“I’m just a few points behind last years’ overall Champion Jason Plato and while I think catching either of the two works Hondas (Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal) is unlikely now, it is still not impossible,” said the Triple Eight Racing driver.
“My best chance of silverware though has got to be in the Independent Award where it looks like it is going to be a three-way fight for the driver’s title between Mat Jackson, me and Andrew Jordan. I’ve worked very hard to get here and most certainly I’m not going to let it slip now.”
