Triple Eight Set To Only Field One Car At Rockingham

James Nash Snett

Triple Eight Race Engineering with Collins Contractors have confirmed that they are yet to fill the vacant seat in their team for the remaining
three rounds of the season.

With a week to go until the next round at Rockingham the team are still searching for a replacement for Tony Gilham who left the team
after Snetterton citing budgetary reasons for the split, but has since joined Geoff Steel Racing.

Aron Smith drove the car in a one off deal at Knockhill but will return to his regular seat in the Clio Cup which is back supporting the BTCC at Rockingham. This leaves James Nash as the sole driver for the team and with time running out to find him a team mate it looks more than likely that this will remain the case until after Rockingham.

Triple Eight Chairman Ian Harrison said: “I guess it is another sign of the times when a good car is likely to remain idle on a race
weekend. We’ve not been short of enquiries for the seat but unfortunately finding somebody with suitable budget has so far proved to be elusive. It isn’t too late though and interested parties’ should contact me or Les Jones without delay.”

The team sit just one point adrift of leaders Airwaves Racing in the Independent teams’ standings with nine races remaining.
