Weekend Roundup – Ginetta GT Supercup: Knockhill

Knockhill Race 3 Podium

With the title battle hotting up in both G50 and G55 championships, we take a look at all the interesting points of the weekend.

Nathan Freke makes it two out of three at Knockhill.

Nathan Freke had a near perfect weekend at Knockhill by making the podium in all three races.  The century driver  out-qualified Tom Sharp by 0.143 seconds, won the first two races and finished second in race three.

Tom sharp was never far behind finishing second in the first two races and winning race three.

After Knockhill the championship standings are:

Tom Sharp, 1st: 515 Points, Nathan Freke, 4th: 462 Points

Carl Breeze and Adam Morgan keep it consistent.

Carl Breeze and Adam Morgan have a quiet but consistent weekend bringing decent points home from Knockhill. Breeze finished 3rd in race one but wasn’t so lucky and had to retire in race three. Adam Morgan kept in the top four all weekend finishing 4th, 3rd, 4th to keep himself in contention for the title along with Carl Breeze.

After Knockhill the championship standings are:

Carl Breeze, 2nd: 497 Points, Adam Morgan, 3rd: 488 Points

Marino Franchitti makes superb Ginetta Début at Knockhill.

Marino Franchitti made a stellar début in the Ginetta GT Supercup at Knockhill with Total Control Racing (TCR)The younger brother of three time IndyCar champion Dario Franchitti returned to Scottish racing for the first time in over 10 years and did not disgrace himself. He stayed in the points all weekend and picked a podium in the last race to wrap up a great weekend and Ginetta GT Supercup début.

Walkinshaw lights up the track in qualifying.

Another star of qualifying was Fergus Walkinshaw, who qualified an impressive 3rd at Knockhill. Unfortunately the weekend would not bring glory, as he retired in the first race and didn’t even start the third. On a positive note Walkinshaw finished 8th to take some points away from Knockhill.

Jody Fannin keeps in-touch with Tom Ingram

Birthday boy Jody Fannin didn’t have the best weekend at Knockhill but crucially scores the points he needs to stay in title contention. A nice birthday present for him was a win in race two.  Tom Ingram had a better weekend in the G50′s finishing on the podium in all of the races, taking a win in race three.
