Morris Grabs Victory Number 10 At Knockhill

Seb Morris

Morris makes it 10 victories this year, as he takes the win for round 13 of the Ginetta Junior Championship, despite rival Gamble giving it his all in what was a very testing race for the TJ Motorsport driver.

As the race got underway, pole sitter George Gamble got away nicely off the line closely followed by current championship leader Seb Morris. Things were looking great for TJ Motorsport’s Gamble as he made the run down to the first corner and into Leslie’s and then into Scotsman. But, as they entered into the chicane, Gamble got a little bit out of shape, allowing the Hillspeed G40 to slip through into the lead.

Frustrated at the error, Gamble was trying so hard to get back onto the bumper of Morris’ red machine and defend his second position, which he then became under attack from the FML Ginetta of Jake Giddings who stole second place.

Down, but not defeated,  as they entered into lap four, Gamble pulled a superb pass on Giddings into SEAT Curve to take back his third place, but this little manoeuvre was short lived as he ended up back down the pack and out of the top six as they entered into Butchers.

As the race went on, Gamble was on a charge as he worked his way back up into the top four. Then, he managed to utilise a late safety car period, where he managed to pass Niall Murray in the Beacon Racing Ginetta on the first corner from the re-start.

The safety car was deployed after an unfortunate spin for Giddings caused him to crash out as he spun on the exit of Clark’s and parked the Ginetta in the barriers.

The next driver in Gamble’s sights was second place sitter Struan Moore in the second Hillspeed G40. Moore, who started on the second row of the grid, had been fighting up with the front runners all of the race, and just as it was looking good for his career best finish so far this season, Gamble’s sheer determination to get back up to where he started the race meant that he found the space and speed to take Moore at the hairpin on the final lap to snatch second place. On the upside, Moore did set a new lap record of 1m02.091 seconds.

As the chequered flag dropped, Morris crossed the line to take the win, followed closely by Gamble to take second and third went to Moore. Fourth place was to be had by TJ Motorsport’s Sennan Fielding, a very pleasing result indeed for him, fifth went to a hard-worked Charlie Robertson and rounding out the top six was Beacon Racing’s Murray.
