Team Pyro’s Aron Smith To Make BTCC Debut
The vacant spot at 888 Racing left by Tony Gilham is to be filled at Knockhill in a one off appearance by Team Pyro Clio Cup driver Aron Smith.
With the Clio Cup taking the weekend off from Knockhill, Smith is available to make his debut in the headline series with the Championship winning team. Smith is currently sitting second in the Clio Cup standings, but is also the brother of former 888 racer Gavin Smith who drove for the team under the factory Vauxhall banner in the 05 and 06 seasons.
Speaking of the news Smith said; “I’m over the moon to be making my BTCC debut with a team with such experience as 888. I’m certain that they have a very competitive package and I’m equally sure we will work very well together.”
“To get to make my debut at Knockhill makes it even better. The track itself should suit my driving style and now I’m just dying to get out in the car. I know it’ll be a steep learning curve but with the help I’ll be getting from the team I’m sure we can get some good results.”
