Breeze Consolidates Supercup Overall Lead
TCR’s Carl Breeze consolidated his overall Ginetta GT Supercup lead with a fourth place in round 17 on Sunday, coming off the back of his win and second place in the first two races of the weekend on Saturday.
For Breeze, his drive from fifth on the grid to a top four finish capped off a successful weekend in which he took his tally of podiums for the season to 12, three of which have been wins.
Although he concentrated mainly on bringing the car home safely after an early challenge for the podium, an incident between Nathan Freke and Tom Sharp almost brought him back onto the podium while they were dualling for second. In the end he crossed the line less than a second shy of third place. He now heads to Knockhill in September with a 31 point lead at the top.
Team principal Lee Brookes said: “Ginetta-wise we’ve pulled plenty of points this weekend and extended our lead overall so we’re very pleased with that. Yes, you always want to win – that’s why we go racing – but Carl did a great job all weekend and to have a win, another podium and a fourth place is fantastic.”
