Race Three Win For Jackson
Mat Jackson re-asserted himself at the head of the championship with his fourth win of the campaign which sees him leave Snetterton and the sixth round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season as leader on 158 points.
Starting from second on the grid it took Mat just one lap to take the lead from Dave Newsham and much like the first two races, the leader never looked back and took the race win with a gap of 3.340s ahead of his nearest challenger.
“It’s hard to put a championship charge on from 13th on the grid but the boys worked very hard and they gave me a car that was capable of going forwards,” said race three winner, Mat Jackson. “Two six places and a win is brilliant for the championship. It’s good to be championship leader but I just don’t want the 45kgs that goes with it.”
That challenger was Widnes-based driver, Paul O’Neill, who had to wait until lap six until he passed Dave Newsham who started the race on pole position. His second place finish was his second podium finish of the season.
Jason Plato finished all three races on the podium when he brought home the Silverline Chevrolet to take the a third place to add that to his race win and third place in the previous two races. Dave Newsham was finally broken down after a long battle with the reigning champion but a disaster on the final lap saw Newsham slip from 3rd to 8th and in turn allowing Neal, MacDowall, Nash and Shedden through in the process.
Foster scored points with his 9th place finish ahead of the NGTC Audi A4 of Rob Austin who became only the second driver to score points in an NGTC car after Frank Wrathall achieved that feat this morning.
