Beacon Racing’s Niall Murray has been selected for the award of Dunlop Young Racing Driver of the Month.

Thanks to Niall’s superb drive at Oulton Park in June, when he went from 14^th on the grid to finishing in second place after a fantastic tyre choice in wet conditions, and then an awesome drive at Croft in North Yorkshire two weeks after, and both of which he’d never had testing on the tracks before, is why Niall has been selected for Dunlop Young Racing Driver for the month of June.

Utterly elated about his nomination, Niall said: It’s absolutely fantastic to be nominated again this year for this amazing award which my brother Eoin had previously won twice. I would love to emulate him and win it this year. We’ve been having a good season so far and I definitely feel a win is not too far away. I’ve got to say a massive thank you to all of my sponsors and family who have helped me this year.”

As Niall has now been put forward as June’s Young Racing Driver, he will be put through along with five other drivers to be in with a chance to win the prestigious €50,000 Dunlop Motorsport Ireland Young Racing Driver of the Year award, which can then be used to put towards their 2012 racing career. The award is presented by Dunlop, the Irish Sports Council and Motorsport Ireland.
