Hollamby Pleased With Return To BTCC
Last weekend saw Shaun Hollamby make the return to the Dunlop British Touring Car Championship as he took to the driving seat of the AmD Milltek Racing.com Volkswagen Golf.
After stepping down as driver after the 2010 season, in which he took the fans driver of the year award, this was the first race back since his decision after regular driver, Tom Onslow-Cole, moved teams to Team Aon.
Hollamby went into last weekends round of the season with high hopes of scoring points and continuing the progression in which the team have seen but that wasn’t to be after a tough three races in the midfield.
“I think some of the boys tried to push me around on track today but I wasn’t having any of it and even though I didn’t manage to get into the points like I hoped to, I feel I can go away from Croft with my head held high,” said Shaun.
Croft was always going to be a one-off race for the Ormington-based driver with his sights firmly set on bringing a full-time driver into the team in time for the next round of the season at Snetterton.
“The weekend is at an end and that is my time behind the wheel done. I’m happy with how the weekend has gone and I feel I’ve done myself justice, but now its time for us to look at the options and choose a younger driver to put in the car for the remainder of the season.”
Shaun had earlier declared that he has had over 45 enquiries over the vacant position in the AmD Milltek Racing.com team with drivers such as ex-BTCC race winners said to be interested in the drive.
