Gordon Shedden topped the times in the first free practice session of the weekend at Oulton Park.

The Honda driver lapped the Cheshire circuit in a best time of 1:27.558 to head team mate Matt Neal by the best part of four tenths of a second. The Scot set his time early on in the session as Honda continued to look the dominant force.

Defending champion Jason Plato was third fastest in the Chevrolet Cruze but despite the weight reduction issued by championship administrator TOCA ahead of this race weekend, he trailed Shedden by 0.848 seconds. Plato was closely followed in the times by team mate Alex MacDowall as Chevrolet emerged as the nearest challengers to Honda.

Andy Jordan was fifth in the Pirtek Vauxhall Vectra with Rob Collard sixth in the WSR BMW.
