2011 is fast becoming a season of firsts for the AmD Milltek Racing.com team as they look to add to their recent run of good results already this season.

With Tom Onslow-Cole at the wheel of the Volkswagen Golf, the team were able to take their first ever points in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship when Tom brought home the VW in 7th place at Donington Park, before recording the teams first top-10 qualifying position at Thruxton last time out.

This time, as teams travel to the Cheshire circuit, AmD Milltek Racing.com will be looking to go one better and aim for a triple points scoring weekend at Oulton Park.

Speaking ahead of the weekend, Onslow-Cole said “I think we have a good all round package now and are making good progress with the car.”

“Oulton Park is circuit where you need a good chassis and strong brakes. We know the Golf has a strong chassis and we are making some improvements to the brakes, which hopefully we will benefit from this weekend.

“The rule changes for the S2000 cars mean it will be tougher to get into the top ten and stay in the top ten, but I believe we can come away from Oulton Park with three points finishes.”

Tom went on to add, “Our ultimate goal this year is to get the Golf onto the podium and if we could get a reverse grid this weekend and bring home a top three finish then it would be fantastic and a real milestone for the team.”

The team, which first entered the BTCC last year using the VW Golf which was last seen in the series over 20 years ago, are constantly making improvements to the car and this weekend is no different.

Shaun Hollamby, who drove the car in 2010 and is now Team Principal of the team, also commented on the Tom’s performances this season. “We’re really pleased with how the season has gone so far. We have good balance with the car and even though we still lack some straight line speed due to the shape of the car, we are continually working on improvements.”

“This weekend, we’ll introduce a new look front bumper, which should be better aerodynamically and also features better air intakes for the engine, so it will be interesting to see how it performs on track.”
