Tom Onslow-Cole continued the form which he showed at Donington Park three weeks ago to score two points finishes in the three races at Thruxton in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

The weekend started well for the 23-year old who set a time in qualifying good enough to secure 6th place on the grid and cross the line 7th in the first race of the day. Unfortunately a problem with the exhaust manifold meant that he was unable to get out for race two. However starting from the back of the grid, Onslow-Cole made his way through the pack and took the final points position in the race coming home in 10th.

“Scoring points is becoming a regular thing. It’s good,” said Onslow-Cole speaking to BTCC Crazy. “We came here this weekend to try and score points in all three races and we didn’t manage that but we did manage to score points in every race we started.”

“We didn’t drop outside the top ten during testing and to qualify 6th was a fantastic high. I think we’ve generally got that sort of pace. This weekend has just confirmed that the result that we got at Donington Park wasn’t a fluke. We’re now starting to run consistently in the top ten on pace so it’s exciting.

Onslow-Cole started the final race of the day from 19th on the grid following his ‘did not start’ in race two but managed to take 10th after overtaking the likes of Jeff Smith, Rob Collard and Paul O’Neill in the process.

“To come back into the top ten is brilliant. Sometimes you can put in a good qualifying result and then stay in the top ten by just making your car wide but coming from the very back of the grid to get back in the top ten is obviously very reassuring that we’ve got a good race car and race pace.”
