Boardman: Feels Like A Win
Tom Boardman ended race three of the day a happy man as he took his first ever Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship podium finish at Thruxton.
Boardman, who started the race from pole position on the grid, brought home the Special Tuning Racing SEAT Leon home on the final step of the podium and recorded 10 points for himself and the team.
“It feels like a win,” said Boardman speaking to BTCC Crazy. “Today’s shown that I can race up with the top three and match their times so it’s encouraging going into the next round.”
It’s not all been plain sailing for the Lancastrian who’s season’s been littered with problems and dedicated the win to the team. “I’m thrilled for the team more than anything,” said Boardman. “It’s frustrating for the team when I’m not up there as they put so much work into the car over the weekend and we’re not getting results because of problems.”
After starting on pole position, Tom got bogged down off the line and crossed the line after the first lap in 3rd position. Tom went on to hold that position despite coming under immense pressure from James Nash for much of the race. Tom now sits 10th in the championship on 24 points after scoring 18 points alone this weekend.
The championship now heads to Oulton Park with Tom looking confident that they can put a good car together.
“We’ve got a big break now till the next race at Oulton Park which is good. We can gather all the data and make sure that we have no problems for the next race at my local circuit.”
