Jackson Wins Chaotic Race Three
Mat Jackson had perhaps one of his best drives of his career as he took the win in the third and final race of the day at Donington Park.
Mat started the race from 10th on the grid but capitalised from the carnage which happened infront of him to cross the line for the first time lying in 2nd place in the Airwaves Racing Ford Focus.
Once Mat had dispossessed MacDowall from the lead there was no looking back for the 29-year old who managed to hold a 2.6s lead as he took the chequered flag and with it taking maximum points from the race after taking the fastest lap of the day.
Jordan capped off a brilliant weekend with another podium finish ahead of the new championship leader, James Nash, who finished on the third step of the podium.
Nash capped of a fine weekend with his third podium finish of the day taking 32 points from the day leaving him on 59 points in the championship and on top of the standings.
It was pandemonium off the line as contact between Newsham and Hughes was made before they had even reached the first corner. That wasn’t all as Gilham, Onslow-Cole and Shedden all took to the gravel on the exit of Redgate before contact with Nash and Chilton sent the Ford Focus and the Golf of Onslow-Cole into the gravel and out of the race.
MacDowall, who lead the race early on, had to settle for 4th position whilst Smith, Plato and Neal for left to battle it out for the 5th, 6th and 7th positions. It was a monumental effort from the Silverline Chevrolet team to get Plato’s car out for the final race and they were rewarded with a 6th place finish.
O’Neill brought his GoMobile.co.uk Chevrolet Cruze home in the points with his 8th place finish ahead of both Griffin and Foster who scored their first points finishes of their BTCC career.
